The Simpsons – the piano version

I am an advocate of people learning music that they love, which might not necessarily be music that they can show off to their friends. I also have to practice what I preach. Soooooo……….

I am currently learning the theme song to “The Simpsons.” But now I wonder: how many other people out there have noticed just how hard and technically demanding this piece is for piano? The left hand does stride the majority of the time throughout, which I would normally be okay with, except that it hits the bass notes at the very very bottom of the piano, and then in the next split second I’m expected to leap all the way to middle Cish area and then return. This is a very fast song. Who on earth arranged this piece?

Oddly enough, it is very very easy to solfege, despite all the transpositions.

I’ve recorded my facial expressions during my first reading of it. It should make for a good few laughs.
